Welcome to In The Bag & Under the Ruf Pet Services. We are a home-grown, Allentown-based business that has enjoyed the opportunity to serve the Lehigh Valley. We endeavor to build relationships built on loyalty, trust, and mutual respect, and to conduct ourselves in a professional and ethical manner at all times.

In The Bag was established in 2001 as a pet waste cleanup company by former owner, Kurt Fenstermacher, who came across the idea while reading a professional trade journal. Fenstermacher liked the idea of a side business to help generate additional income for his growing family.
He started the business as a part-time venture, offering residential pet waste cleanup service on Saturdays. For the first two years, Fenstermacher personally worked the business until he had 30 clients. Saturdays soon spilled over into Sundays, and by the start of the fourth year, In The Bag was a 6-day-a-week operation offering more than just poop scooping services. That is when Fenstermacher decided to sell the company to a local mother/daughter team, and in August of 2006, they established the business as In The Bag & Under the Ruf Pet Services.
It is our pleasure to welcome you to In the Bag & Under the Ruf Pet Services. My name is Janice and my daughters are Nichole and Amanda. Our love for animals brought us to this business. Our personal "pets" are members of our family and get the best of care. They are all spoiled, from the dog to the bunnies - birds, geckos, hamsters, frog and yes, even the fish. Sometimes it seems as though our home is a "zoo"!
We are so grateful that we have clients who feel the same about their pets and employ us to help provide great care and loving attention while they are away. We will all be working for our company and will strive to give quality service to our clients and loving care to their pets.
Nichole will be working many of the scooping routes and providing a majority of our sitting services. Amanda will assist under supervision. Together, we will broaden our scope to become a true one stop shop for pet related services by adding grooming, pet food delivery, and care for birds, reptiles, fish and exotic pets to our product offering.

Our Staff
In The Bag is pleased to employ the following team of professionals to assist in our service delivery:
worked in the automotive industry for 27 years. For 23 of those years, she was a supervisor and than promoted to parts manager at local car dealerships. Recently, she decided to take life in a different direction by becoming a licensed real estate agent. Doing so provided her the flexibility to help her family realize its' dream of owning a pet services company. She has always held a soft spot for animals, believing all pets are family members. She is overwhelmed with joy to share this business with daughters Nichole and Amanda.
comes to In The Bag with an impressive animal background, and was really the impetus the family to purchase the business. She has always had a passion for the care and knowledge of animals. From a young age, Nichole started accompanying her grandmother to work at a pet store, and since that time, has always worked in a pet store or kennel. As she grew up, she helped breed small animals and reptiles. Her dedication for animals followed her into college, where she designed her own major to continue her studies on wildlife. She attended Moravian College and graduated in three years with a four year degree in Environmental Science. Her vast knowledge is an attribute to the business and because of her love for animals, the family has rescued and saved many critters.
is an entrepreneur in her own right. She has recently launched her own business, Valley Concierge, Inc. www.valleyconciergeservice.com , which provides errands and services to busy people. Christina has provided pet related errands and services to her clients through the course of her daily business, and saw an opportunity to plug that into In The Bag. Christina joined In The Bag in Jan of 2006 and is employed primarily as a scooper. However, she also provides pet sitting services to clients in Northampton County.
is a biology student who joined In The Bag in October of 2004. Looking for a way to offset college expense, Nori put her love of animals to work for her. She had a two-year stint as a volunteer for the local Animals in Distress organization, working diligently to rescue animals and relocate them to loving homes. Nori handles both scooping and daily dog walking for In The Bag.
All of the individuals named above are employed as independent contractors. They have agreed to abide by our code of ethics and business practices and are fully bonded and covered by liability insurance when working in your home in behalf of In The Bag.
